This project, developed in the Design Future course, explores our vision of how AI assistants might influence humanity in the future. We believe that as AI evolves, it will play an increasingly significant role in our lives—not by controlling or enslaving us, but by offering gentle, whisper-like suggestions. However, this subtle approach may lead to growing dependence, with more people letting AI take over their life decisions. Against this backdrop, we designed the following product and narrative, and created a video to bring the concept to life.

Background

We began by defining the future context, exploring the impact of AI technology and how we might evolve from the present to the future we envision. We imagined a world where AI becomes significantly more intelligent than humans, leading people to fully trust its ideas. We created character profiles and future scenarios, and considered how AI might influence people through subtle, whisper-like interactions.

Product Design

This is our product design, Whisperer. It’s a small, pebble-shaped device that fits comfortably in the hand. At its core is a dial that allows users to adjust the intensity and style of the AI assistant, with a central screen displaying its current state. The device delivers sound through a metal backplate. Inspired by iconic products like the iPod and Tamagotchi, Whisperer is imagined as a highly personalized device widely customized by users in the future.

Script & Storyboard

Based on the background and product design, we wrote a script for our video. The story is set in a future where AI influences people through the popular Whisperer device. It follows a failed date between two main characters, showing how Whisperer shapes their decisions and behavior. The narrative aims to explore the growing consequences of human dependence on technology.

Prototypes & Props

We created a simple 3D-printed prototype of the product for the video production, along with additional props such as packaging, posters, and branding elements.
