Background Research

By browsing the application of existing ceramic materials, I obtained the first mood board described above. It can be seen that due to its high hardness, strong wear resistance, easy to clean, not easy to breed bacteria, and a smooth appearance that conveys “clean” information, it is often used in scenes such as bathrooms and tableware, as well as watch or mobile phone back covers made of precision ceramics.

Based on these characteristics, I think ceramic materials are ideal for making toothbrushes. When using toothbrushes, ceramic can provide a better feel, and ceramics do not leave obvious marks when used for a long time. They are ideal for making toothbrushes with replaceable heads, reducing waste and more environmentally friendly. More importantly, ceramic materials can guarantee the hygiene of toothbrushes even when used for a long time.

When designing, considering that ordinary ceramic materials are not suitable for fine mechanical parts and that precision ceramics are expensive, I designed the brush part to be made of stainless steel. Stainless steel also has characteristics such as durability and easy to clean. At the same time, the two materials, ceramic and stainless steel, also complement each other in appearance.

Product Design

In terms of appearance, the entire product is a combination of ceramic and stainless steel. The size is based on many toothbrushes on the market. The overall length and width size is 190mm*19.2mm, and the handle part is 117.42mm long. The ratio between ceramic grips and stainless steel follows the golden ratio of 0.618. The handle part of the product is designed with an attenuation line that rotates clockwise. The right side of the front guides the thumb to comfortably hold, and the stainless steel part gradually contracts as it transitions upward. The overall shape is very elegant.

Replaceable Brush Head

The product is designed so that the toothbrush head can be replaced. Only a small part of the head can be used for a long time, which can effectively reduce waste and be more environmentally friendly. The brush head uses a snap-on design, so you can remove the brush by gently pushing it from back to front. The brush heads have different colors, making it easy to distinguish between different people's toothbrushes in the home. At the same time, there are also bristles of different thicknesses and hardness to choose from, so they can adapt to the oral environment of more people and are more comfortable to use.

Structural Design

The product uses a simple structural design, and can be easily disassembled for cleaning, or parts can be replaced. As shown in the figure, the handle is hollow. The upper and lower stainless steel parts connect the middle shaft to fix the handle. The stainless steel bevel of the brush head prevents the handle from rotating.
